The name Food Condoms might sound surprisingly innovative, in actual, these are food huggers made of silicone.
The reusable food wraps are perfect for covering leftover fruits, vegetables, or drinks.
The slip-on is colorful, which can slip on and taken off whenever required. The food condoms keep the food fresh and moist even after four-five days.
With the regular use of these food condoms, eatables can be preserved for days and used when necessary. These are made of silicone so that these are phthalate-free as well as BPA ( BisPhenol A) free.
How did food condoms start?
A food condom popular as Second Skins were first created by Michelle Ivankovic, who is an industrial product designer.
The marketing strategist Adrienne McNicholas helped in this innovation.
The duo had met almost 15 years back when they were in the home products industry. The food hugger is an innovative way of storing food and drinks without losing the goodness and taste.
Normally half of all fruits kept in the fridge go to waste as it shrivels up and looks disgusting. They even taste bad and sometimes rotten. With the usage of the second skins, the same fruits can be used after days. Available in different sizes these can wrap even avocados which have seeds.
Storing veggies and fruits in food condoms
The colorful food huggers are made of silicone which means you can keep using it for days without the worry of breaking it.
The softness and flexibility of the material allow it to be wrapped around any fruit or vegetable.
It is completely freezer and dishwasher safe. If you are sealing half-consumed drinks and jars be sure that nothing is going to spill out and the taste remains unaffected.
It is the best to start with fresh products so that they stay fresh for a few days. Still, you will have to place the cut vegetable in the fridge right after cutting it up to store it properly.
