Quality is not an act it is a habit
This famous quote can be traced back to Aristotle. It is from The Story of Philosophy by Will Durant, published in the year 1926. It’s Durant’s summary of Aristotle’s thought on ‘The Nichomachean Ethics’.
Some studies state that it takes almost three weeks to form or break a habit, whereas others claim that it takes more than six weeks. But anyhow, we get to know that habits are formed by repetitions. Nobody is born a genius. It’s our habit which defines us. Habits can be of two types either good or bad. The perseverance of the good ones enhances character and excellence. But a bad habit can spoil everything. It is we who create our own quality or trait, though not in a day or by accident. It’s the fruit of continuous hard work and patience.
The only way to reach a position of excellence is by setting the correct mindset. You must keep challenging yourself and your performance in order to enhance your quality. There is always scope for improvement no matter how well you work. Constant development is the key to better quality in every perspective.
Constant repetition paired with striving for better work leads to enhance in quality. If you want to excel at something, then you must keep repeating that thing until you become the best. Let’s suppose you want to be a great cricketer and the whole time you just sit and watch the game of cricket, but you, yourself, not once picked up a bat or a ball.
Will you ever become a world famous cricketer or just remain a die hard fan?
Good habits help you to gain inner satisfaction. With vigorous practice everyday one can reach the mark of good quality and once fulfilled your goal, the inner happiness is bound to overwhelm you. Whether it is a thing or a person, Quality is very important. If you can reach 10 then why settle for 8 or 9. ? Push yourself harder for the improvement of your quality!
