What to brutally murder a 2-year-old Twinkle Sharma? – Aligarh Incident
It was 2012 when the brutal Nirbhaya case took place in the national capital Delhi and shook the conscience of the entire nation. 7 years past Nirbhaya, we, as a country, as a society, seem to have not moved an inch.
In a gut-wrenching, deplorable and extremely inhuman incident that took place in Aligarh, a 2-year old girl, Twinkle Sharma has been brutally murdered, with her eyes pricked out and acid poured on the entire body. The incident was discovered when a gang of dogs was found to be carrying what seemed like human body parts!
As per the initial investigations, the two suspected murderers are the family’s neighbors, and the case is that of personal enmity. The deceased girl’s family could not repay a loan of about 1000 rupees to the murderers.
But what kind of inhumanity and devilness does it take to kill a 2-year-old girl?
Rape on the girl could not be established due to missing body parts and badly disfigured body.
But then, missing genitals from the body indicate to what else?
One would need immense strength to even go through the medical report of the girl, such is the brutality of the case.
The blame of the incident can be put on a lot of stakeholders – the police, the administration, the government.
But what does it reflect upon us, as a society?
Where do these people get the strength from, to commit such horrible crimes?
If even two-year-olds are not safe in our society, then we need not look any further. The change needs to start from our own families.
While the guilty may be hanged to death for the crime, it will be of no help. Our girls will continue to suffer brutally murder unless we change. Our girls deserve better, our society deserves better.
